There is a particular kind of rose that only Kanchipuram silk can hold — not one colour, but two threads woven so closely together that they become a third. This saree carries that colour through every inch of its body, in fine golden zari checks that stay quiet in ordinary light and catch fire the moment the sun finds them.

Woven on a traditional pit loom, this is 100% pure Kanchipuram silk — the real, slow, handmade kind, where a single saree can take days to complete on the loom alone. The rose-gold checked body is finished with a rich contrast border, and it comes with a running blouse piece woven in the same hand, so the saree arrives complete and ready to wear.

This is not a saree that only photographs well. It is one that holds its own in person — in the weight of the silk, the way the zari catches candlelight, the way it moves when you walk.

Note: As with all handloom, minor variations in the weave are a mark of authenticity, not a flaw — each saree carries the individual hand of the weaver who made it.
Care & Maintenance

Dry clean is recommended for the first 3 washes to set the zari and natural dyes. For subsequent washes, hand wash gently in cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Do not wring or machine wash. Dry flat in shade , prolonged direct sunlight can dull the zari lustre. Store folded in a clean muslin cloth; avoid plastic bags and mothballs near zari borders.

Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery. The item must be in original, unwashed, unworn condition. Return shipping is at the customer's cost. All approved returns are refunded as Neythkari Credits (store credit only, not a cash refund). Credits are valid for 12 months and can be used on any order.

The Weavers of Chendamangalam

The craft arrived in Chendamangalam when the Paliyath Achans, prime ministers of the Cochin kingdom, brought weavers from Tamil Nadu's Devangar community to settle along the Periyar river. What began as a new livelihood took root across generations until it became inseparable from the identity of Chendamangalam itself.

Neythkari works directly with these weaver families, not middlemen. A fair portion of every sale returns to the craftsperson. When you buy from us, you are participating in a supply chain that keeps one of Kerala's most enduring traditions alive.
