Care Instructions
Handloom cloth responds differently from mill-made fabric. A little care at the start means the piece lasts years longer and feels better with every wash.
Cotton handloom sarees
For the first wash, dry clean or hand wash gently in cold water. After that, a gentle cold-water hand wash is all you need. Do not machine wash on a heavy cycle. Dry in shade, away from direct sunlight, which fades colour over time. Store folded in a muslin or cotton cloth, not in a plastic bag, so the fabric breathes. Cotton handloom grows softer and more supple with each wash.
Silk handloom sarees
Dry clean for the first three washes. After that, careful cold-water hand washing with a mild detergent is possible, but dry cleaning remains the safest option for long-term care. Store separately, wrapped in soft cloth, away from garments that might snag the weave. Keep perfume and deodorant away from the fabric; alcohol and oil can permanently mark silk.
Set mundu and cotton handloom
Gentle hand wash in cold water. Do not wring or twist the cloth. Lay flat or hang to dry in shade. Iron on a medium setting while the cloth is still slightly damp for a clean, crisp finish.
Jewellery
Store in the pouch provided with each piece. Avoid contact with water, soap, and perfume. After wearing, wipe gently with a soft dry cloth before storing. Do not stack pieces on top of each other as this can scratch the surface.
Towels and home textiles
Machine wash cold with like colours. No bleach. Tumble dry on low or line dry. Do not iron on high heat. Handloom cotton towels absorb better and soften further with repeated washing.
